In addition to the usual library functions of checking things out, helping people find information and events for children, tweens and teens, the Red Wing Public Library offers a number of services you may not be as familiar with:
Book House Calls
The Red Wing Public Library is collaborating with Faith in Action to provide the Book House Calls Program. This free book delivery program is intended to assist any person who has temporary or permanent limited access to the library.
Trained volunteers will deliver items to your residence by an assigned member. Volunteers are trained by Faith in Action and receive a special Red Wing Public Library card plus Library orientation.
If you would like more information about applying for this free Book House Calls Program call the Red Wing Public Library at (651) 385-3642 Monday thru Friday 10:00am-5:00pm. Or fill out the application and mail it to the Red Wing Public Library, 225 East Ave, Red Wing, MN 55066. For information about volunteering for this program contact Faith in Action at (651) 385-3290.
While library staff can assist with very minor research needs (for instance, printing out and mailing a single obituary for which we have been provided with an exact reference), we cannot perform significant genealogical research. In such cases, we may be able to turn the matter over to a researcher (e.g. a staff member at the Goodhue County Historical Society) who would perform the research for a fee. If you are interested in such research, please fill out the request form and return it to us.
If you can’t find what you are looking for here at our library or in SELCO, our regional library consortium, let us know. We can borrow materials from elsewhere in Minnesota and in certain cases, from other parts of the country.
We have on staff a licensed Notary Public who will notarize documents for free. Amy is not always available, so it’s best to call (651-385-3642) or email (email@example.com) before you come to the library with your documents.
