*NOTE* Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we do not know if we will be able to provide a 2021 home school program. We will update this page as developments occur.
Every year, Megan and Cyd put together a structured series of classes open to homeschooled children ages 6-12 or grade equivalent K-6 (children who have turned or will be turning 6 before June 1). Designed to encourage and promote cooperation, teamwork, and help kids with performance and public speaking, we put together a show that includes whole group skits, plays based on children’s books, and music, as well as individual or small group performances. Each child has the opportunity to perform at a level they are comfortable with and ready for, whether it is a large leading role or solo musical, poetry, story telling, or other talent, or a smaller chorus or ensemble role. At the end of the season, we perform our variety show for Sunshine Corner preschool from the YMCA and parents, siblings, family, and friends.
A note about attendance:
As a performance group, rehearsal attendance is very, very important. If you know in advance that your child will be unable to attend three or more rehearsals, as with any performance-based group activity, it will be extremely difficult for your child and the rest of the performers to be successful. Please keep that in mind when deciding if you would like to participate.
Classes meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, January through May at 1pm downstairs in the library’s Foot Room. If you would like more details, please contact Megan at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that virtually all communication from us regarding the homeschool program will be via email.
