Loan periods, overdue fees and renewal policies
Rule of Two
Almost all items check out for 2 weeks with 2 renewals allowed and $.20 per day fines. See below for details and exceptions.
Checking Out Materials
You may check out materials at the service desk or at the three self check machines (located near the East Avenue entrance to the library). Please bring your library card. For information on how to obtain a card, see our online instructions.
Loan Periods

Art Prints | 2 months |
Interlibrary loans | varies depending on the policies of the owning library |

These loan periods and overdue fines are for regular library cards.

All SELCO library items will follow the owning library’s loan period & overdue fine rate. For example, a SELCO library outside of Goodhue County may have a $1.00 per day overdue fine with a 2 day loan period on videos and DVDs. Be sure to look at your checkout receipt!
Renewing Materials
All renewable items (which is everything the library owns except for the high demand bestsellers that comprise our browsing collection) can be renewed twice if no one else has reserved the item. Items which have been reserved by someone else cannot be renewed. Renew by bringing the item or your library card to the service desk, or by calling the service desk (651-385-3673 v/tdd), or via the Internet by accessing the Red Wing Public Library/SELCO online catalog and then the information on your personal record.
Returning Materials
Return library materials at the service desk during open hours, or at the East Avenue 24 hour book-drop. You may also return Red Wing materials at any library in
the SELCO region.
